Metallica Expanding Master Puppets For Reissue

(hennemusic) Metallica have announced the November 10 release of a series of 30th anniversary reissues of their 1986 album classic, "Master Of Puppets." The band's major label debut became thrash metal's first platinum album on its way to US sales of more than 6 million copies.

"A little over a year ago, we proudly reissued our first two albums remastered for the most advanced sound quality possible along with special deluxe editions including previously unreleased audio and video recordings," says Metallica. "We promised to give that love to the entire catalog, and we're back with all the details about the release of 'Master Of Puppets.'"

The remastered project will be available on CD, vinyl and digital, alongside an expanded 3CD edition and a deluxe box set. The 3-CD set includes the remastered album, a disc that is a combination of rough mixes, demos and an interview, and a disc featuring a mix of live songs that are sequenced into a typical set list from the Damage, Inc. tour.

The limited-edition deluxe box set includes "unreleased demos, rough mixes, interviews and live tracks, many of which have never even been available in the collector or bootleg community and were pulled from our personal collections," says the band. "There's also a 108-page hardcover book with rare and never before seen photos and essays from those who were there with us for the wild ride. All in all, there are three LPs, ten CDs, a cassette, two DVDs, a lithograph with art by Pushead, a folder with handwritten lyrics, and if that isn't enough to push you over the edge, we've also thrown in a set of six buttons (!)."

Metallica are previewing the "Master Of Puppets" reissue with audio of the remastered version of "Disposable Heroes" and a live version of "The Thing That Should Not Be" recorded at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL on May 25, 1986. Check them out here.

Lynyrd Skynyrd 1977 Plane Crash Biopic Blocked By Court

(hennemusic) A New York court has awarded Lynyrd Skynyrd a permanent injunction to block an unauthorized biopic about the band's 1977 plane crash that killed six people, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines.

Rolling Stone reports production on "Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash" - based on the life of former Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle, who left the group in 1991 - will permanently shut down after a judge decided that the film violates a consent order that Pyle signed with his band mates in 1988.

The consent order states that "No such exploitation of life story rights is authorized which purports to be a history of the 'Lynyrd Skynyrd' band, as opposed to the life story of the applicable individual."

Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington, singer and Van Zant's brother Johnny Van Zant and the Van Zant and Gaines estates filed a lawsuit against Pyle and Cleopatra Records over the project in June. Read more here.

Directed by Lucy Dawkins and Tom Readdy at Yes Please Productions, the animated clip presents the tune, which appeared as the B-side to the project's second American single, "She's A Rainbow", and also peaked on its own at No. 5 on the German charts.

Originally released in December of 1967, "Their Satanic Majesties Request" is the first self-produced album in The Rolling Stones' catalog. The record peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 on its way to Gold status Stateside for sales of 500,000 copies.

Chris Cornell's Brother Shares Heartfelt Message To Fans

(Radio.com) As the music world continues to mourn the death of Soundgarden's Chris Cornell, his brother sent a message to the community of fans sharing their grief. In a new social media post, Peter Cornell shares his gratitude to those who have provided his family support and prayers during the difficult aftermath of suicide as well as addresses the troubling conspiracy theories following his brother's death.

The Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman was found dead in his hotel room at the MGM Grand Detroit on May 17 after what appeared to be a suicide by hanging. He was 52 years old. Read Cornell's brother's complete Facebook message below.

"My Friends: Again you humble me with your kindness, empathy, love and support. Although I pulled myself off Social Media, I've been able to glimpse bits and pieces of the selfless way so many people around the world continue to honor and pay tribute to my Brother.

"I truly couldn't believe the way you picked up and carried the message of doing push-ups for suicide prevention. Please don't stop. What a devastating way to have my eyes opened to how many lives around me, and all of us, have been touched by such tragedy. Going forward I hope prevention is a conversation we can have more freely. Removing the stigma that discussing suicide is like speaking about a dirty little secret. If only ' what I'd give to have had the tiniest shred of this awareness in early May.

"I cannot deny the pain of this loss. In some ways I cling to it. Refusing to let go because I want to keep my little Brother close, even if all that's left are memories. At least we are rich with memories. I replay them all to often, starting with our childhood and reliving the glory that was Seattle in the 90's." Read more here.

Poison Take A Look Back At Def Leppard Tour

(hennemusic) Poison have released a short video featuring footage from their 2017 North American tour with Def Leppard and Tesla. The bands hooked up for a three-month spring run that opened in Manchester, NH on April 8 and wrapped up on June 25 in Indianapolis, IN.

"Rockin' across the country with Def Leppard & Tesla has been a BLAST!," says Poison. "Thank you to all of our awesome fans who support us and come to the shows."

The trek - which also featured a series of 30th anniversary headline dates by the Pennsylvania outfit - marked the first time in over five years Poison toured with its original lineup of vocalist Bret Michaels, guitarist C.C. DeVille, drummer Rikki Rockett and bassist Bobby Dall.

Rockett encouraged fans on the tour to help him raise funds to support immunotherapy at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health after successfully completing a clinical trial that declared him cancer-free last summer.

Following a 2015 diagnosis that confirmed the presence of oral cancer, the rocker initially received standard radiation and chemotherapy treatment before checking in to Moore's for the experimental procedure.

"Without the doctors and staff at Moores Cancer Center, I can honestly say I don't think I'd be here today, to say nothing about playing drums and going on tour again," said Rockett before hitting the road. "I am incredibly grateful that I've got my life back and I'll get to see my two children grow up." Watch the video here.

(Radio.com) The National are set to release their new album Sleep Well Beast on September 8 and the Brooklyn-based band is giving fans an early listen to a song called "Day I Die."

"Graham MacIndoe captured eighteen time-lapse photo series during rehearsals at Le Centquatre in June 2017 in Paris. Hours of rehearsal are compressed into a few minutes. Over five thousand of these photographs were brought together to create the final video," said director Casey Reas.

"I wrote custom software to collage multiple photographs together and to compile them into videos,' he continued. "A flickering color layer abstracted from broadcast television signals augments the black and white footage. The images are played back at 12fps, near the threshold of the persistence of vision." "We are encouraged by the city's and state's recovery efforts from this tragic event and stand alongside our neighbors.

"Long ago, we recorded a song called 'Heaven, Hell or Houston,'" the band added, referring to a track on 1981 album, El Loco. "We're confident that, in the near future, the first word will describe the title's third word and the middle will soon be overcome." Read more here.

Singled Out: Young States' Over It By Now

Young States, an acclaimed all-female group of four punk rockers, will release their "Past Truths | Present Lies" EP on Sept 29th. We asked frontman Georgia to tell us about the single "Over It By Now". Here is the story:

When it comes to writing lyrics, a lot of the time I'm not very good at coming up with something at the point of experiencing the feeling I want to write about; I find it hard to be creative when I'm emotional and emotional lyrics are the only ones that turn out well for me. So I have notebooks, or "feelings books" as I call them, to jot down feelings that I could potentially use as inspiration later.

Once we'd written the instrumental for this song, I was flicking through for what to write about and I came across one page that only had "I should be over it by now" written at the top. I liked it, so I used it. A lot.

The song's about an experience with one of my close friends at the time who I grew to really like, they liked me back but lead me on and messed with my head when they decided to be with someone else. I didn't want to lose this person as a friend so I internalised all the upset, confusion, and stupidity I felt because I thought it could actually work, meaning this person never realised how I truly felt about the whole situation. So seeing that sentence there motivated me to actually express the emotions I felt during that time, and to also feel sorry for myself whilst simultaneously getting my arse in gear by saying "I should be over it by now".

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself right here!
