Get Parsons in the Country Hall

05/30/07
.
(PR) Gram Parsons was among the first, if not the first, musician to bridge the gap between country and rock, inspiring the country-rock, calling it Cosmic American Music, movement that influenced pivotal bands like The Band, The Byrds, and The Rolling Stones. Gram's music continues to have a global influence many musicians of today including: Norah Jones, Elvis Costello, Wilco, Neko Case, Son Volt, My Morning Jacket, Kings of Leon, The Thrills and Lucinda Williams (among countless others). An integral part of the first ever country-rock album, Sweetheart of the Rodeo by The Byrds, one cannot deny the influence he has had on country music. To deny his induction in the Country Hall of Fame would be to deny country-rock as a subgenre of country. This would cut out bands like Johnny Cash (1980), Willie Nelson (1998), and even "The King of Rock and Roll" himself, Elvis Presley (1998). The Hall of Fame states, "Country music changes daily, but it always remains, as Willie Nelson said, a place where "people tell their life stories." Gram definitely told his.

Gram Parsons is even mentioned on the Country Music Hall of Fame's website in the History of Country Music section. They should do the right thing and induct him. Now is your chance to get him the recognition he deserves! Go to the petition signature page below so that he can finally be acknowledged for his significant contribution to country music. His induction is long overdue, and YOU can make it a reality! Sign the petition at the full story link. At press time there were only 254 signers. - Click here for the Full Story
