Geldof Slams Live Earth

05/14/07
.
(AP) Bob Geldof, who organized the Live Aid and Live 8 benefit concerts, criticized the Live Earth music events Al Gore is putting together this summer, saying they lack a specific goal, according to a Dutch newspaper report Saturday.

"I hope they're a success," De Volkskrant newspaper quoted Geldof as saying in an interview.

"But why is (Gore) actually organizing them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that problem for years. We are all (expletive) conscious of global warming," he said. [see full story for more. He makes a pretty good point but what did Live 8 really do to help poor countries? Did MTV donate the revenue from all of their commercials? You remember the ads that were far more important than airing a Pink Floyd reunion. "Awareness" concerts are really pointless all together unless the goal is make people aware that Bob and Al are still alive. ] - Click here for the Full Story
