(hennemusic) KISS paused an April 12 concert performance in Manaus, Brazil after bassist Gene Simmons fell ill onstage early in the show. During the opening night of the South American leg of the group's End Of The Road farewell tour - according to a report by G1 - Simmons asked stage assistants to bring him a chair, and he played some of the bass parts to "Say Yeah" sitting down, after which he was attended to by the band's crew.

"We're gonna have to stop," Paul Stanley told the crowd. "You know how much we love Gene, and he's obviously sick. And we're gonna have to stop to take care of him, 'cause we love him, right?" The singer then rallied fans to chant "Gene", before adding, "all right, we'll try to see you all a little bit later." (continue)

(hennemusic) Rush is streaming a new visualizer video for "The Weapon", a track from the forthcoming 40th anniversary reissues for their 1982 album, "Signals."

The band refers to the song (subtitled as being "Part II of Fear") as "a rumination on personal apprehension and doubt that also serves as a modernized offshoot of the mob-mentality prejudices of 'Witch Hunt' (a.k.a. "Part III of Fear") from 'Moving Pictures'. 'The Weapon' also became another Rush concert favorite featuring a videoscreen-projected introduction courtesy of Count Floyd, one of Joe Flaherty's many notable characters from SCTV." (continue)

This year, Ian Donaldson, former frontman of the Scottish new wave band H2O, is celebrating 40 years of the classic single "I Dream To Sleep". In commemoration of this landmark anniversary, Donaldson has reconfigured the band's breakthrough hit with fresh arrangements to create a new version of the song for 2023 that's as nuanced as it is nostalgic, which will be released on May 5th.

Speaking about "I Dream To Sleep" reaching this significant milestone and returning to the track all these years later, Ian Donaldson says: "It would be a shame not to celebrate I Dream to Sleep's birthday. The song has become an old friend, not only to me, but to many other people over the last 40 years. A re-release or remix would have been the easy options. I felt it deserved more. A new recording using different colours. So ... I experimented with harps, acoustic guitar, piano, cello and a fresh vocal. I'm happy with how it turned out. I hope listeners old and new will like it too." (continue)

During an appearance on The Itch Rock Podcast, Arejay Hale of Halestorm and Taylor Carroll of Lit revealed the names and details of the debut releases from their new project KemikalFire, including the track "Dead and Gone," which is scheduled for release this Friday, April 14th.

"I think that 'Dead and Gone' is one that just wrote itself," Hale said when asked about a song they're particularly proud to have written. "It was something that Taylor and I had been holding on to but were maybe too afraid to touch on when we got in a creative songwriting space. 'Cause we were just like, 'Well that sounds kind of conceited.' But no, that's a real human thought. 'How am I gonna be remembered when I die, and am I gonna die satisfied?' It's the most beautiful experience when you start writing a song and the song starts writing itself and you're just chasing it. And that's what that song felt like." (continue)

Public Image Ltd. (PiL) have decided to continue plans to announce their 11th studio album and first album in 8 years, End of World, today, following the sad passing of John's wife of more than 4 decades, Nora Forster, on 5th April. End of World will be released on 11th August 2023 on PiL Official via Cargo UK Distribution, followed by a 38-date UK and European Tour.

Earlier this year, PiL released "Hawaii," the most personal piece of songwriting and accompanying artwork that John Lydon has ever shared. The song is a love letter to John's wife Nora, who sadly passed away from Alzheimer's on Wednesday 5th April. A pensive, personal yet universal love song that has resonated with many since its release in January, the song sees John reflecting on their lifetime well spent and in particular one of their happiest moments together in Hawaii. John said, "Nora loved the album, she wouldn't have wanted us to postpone it or change any of our plans." Previously he has said of "Hawaii," "It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most." (continue)

Ontario alternative rockers Dammit Goldie just released their new single and video, "Medusa". To celebrate we asked Evan Cannavicci and Josh Smith to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

Evan: I had gotten really tired of the way I wrote music for the subsequent 15 years, so I wasn't writing much at the time. Josh and I recently made the move from Toronto to Hamilton and I was listening to alot of Bring Me The Horizons new album 'Post Human: Survival Horror' which you can hear it's influence all over the song. I think a new city and covid really inspired me to try something different. I had the time to experiment. (continue)
